My name is Magnus McLeod. Welcome to my
electronic Office! Please call me Magnus. I paint
commissioned portraits of loved ones, ancestors and pets. Because I am a
perfectionist, I paint electronically. As a perfectionist, I will work
very hard indeed to create an image that delights you.
I shall be delighted to hear from you! Please make
initial contact by email, at magnus@portraits-by-magnus.com,
or by telephone, and tell me your wishes. My telephone number within
the United Kingdom is 01474 322499. If telephoning from outside the
United Kingdom, please telephone 44 1474
322499.

I almost always work from photographs. I much prefer
to take these myself, because it makes my work much easier if I can meet my
subject and study him or her in person. However, since I do work from
photographs, I can paint portraits of subjects I cannot meet.
-
Before I start painting I require a 25% deposit which is
not refundable. When I have finished your portrait, you will not have
to pay the balance if you do not wish to have the picture. This has
never happened, and I am sure it never will, but it is an undertaking to you
that I feel I must make.
-
My fee for a head and neck portrait is currently £2,500,
or $3,800. A life-sized, full-length portrait would cost a good deal
more, depending on exactly what you wanted. Very large pictures are
possible, 50" or 127 cm. by several yards or metres long.
My fee includes a full-sized print of the portrait, of the finest
quality. In the case of a head and neck portrait, the face would be
larger than life-sized, and the picture approximately 20"x 25", or
about 50 x 64 cm. Further prints in various sizes can be ordered for
the cost of the print, and of packing, insurance and postage.
-
I would be happy to offer, free of charge, my
advice regarding the choice of a frame. My painting time is
precious, but for an agreed fee, I could also have your picture
mounted by my printer in London, select a perfect frame and have the framing
done by a framer in Rochester whom I trust. The glazed and framed
picture would then be professionally packed and shipped to you.
-
I use all my initials in my signature, hence my portraits
are signed AMG McLeod.

The

Colonel, painted for the present-day Regiment. To see this detail from
his historical portrait, in full colour, please click the thumbnail picture on the left.
